Cuckoos lay their eggs in other birds' nests as a form of brood parasitism. This behavior allows them to offload the responsibility of raising their young onto other bird species, saving them time and energy. By laying their eggs in the nests of other birds, cuckoos also reduce the risk of their own eggs or chicks being predated. This strategy has evolved over time as a successful way for cuckoos to ensure the survival of their offspring without having to invest in parental care themselves. **
